A note from Pastor Travis 8/31/23

Today is the last day of August! Can you believe it? This summer has been a busy one at the church, filled with wonderful ministry opportunities; making it a great summer. This fall will be even better!

For the last month, I have been using this space to highlight different ministry opportunities happening in the fall. Today I want to highlight 3 things.

1.    A OK begins on September 17. A OK stands for “Act of Kindness.” Each A OK Sunday there is a special mission project designed specifically for our children during worship. The children stay for the worship service through the children’s time, then they leave worship to work on a mission project. It is a lot of fun and does great things for our communities.

After September, A OK will meet the first Sunday of each month. We hope to see all of our children join the fun, and they are encouraged to bring friends!

2.   Also, on September 17, we are having a church Pasta Lunch. But, wait, there is more! We are making a lot of extra pasta to freeze for our Sunday Free Meal program.

There are a lot of ways that you can help. We are asking people to bring pasta sauce (the “plain type”), ziti pasta, or frozen broccoli. Please bring your donation(s) to the church by Wednesday, September 13.

We also need people willing to help cook, clean up, and pack up the additional pasta for the Sunday Free Meal Program.

But, even if you cannot help, we hope you’ll stay for the Pasta Lunch.

3.   Yard sale on September 30. We are having a yard sale to benefit Haiti Global Youth Partnership. Currently, we don’t have many items donated, so look around your house and bring items that we can sell for a great cause. We also need people to help set up, sale items, and clean up afterwards.

If you can volunteer for any of these programs or have any questions, please contact the church office: 781-662-7060, or send email to: fumc@fumcmelrose.com

Blessings,

Pastor Travis
