A note from Pastor Travis 10/22/26

Sunday, we are exploring Matthew 22:34-40, a well-known and well-loved passage in which Jesus is asked which commandment is the greatest. Jesus responds, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” It’s a great answer, but Jesus doesn’t leave it there. The greatest commandment has a corollary. If you love God, then it follows that you will love neighbor. Jesus continues, “And a second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” Powerful.

Powerful but difficult. Loving God so completely is hard. Loving our neighbor can be even harder. The emotion that we feel for God is not the same as making our decisions based on the love we have for God. Saying that we love others is not the same as making the commitment to live out that love for them in our lives.

Join us this Sunday as we consider the implications of Jesus’ teaching in our lives. Don’t forget to bring a friend!

Blessings,

Pastor Travis
