A note from Pastor Travis 10/15/26
This Sunday we will be reflecting on one of the better-known passages in the gospels, Matthew 22:15-22.
In this story, we read that famous verse, “Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperors, and to God the things that are God’s.” (Or, in the language of the King James Bible, “Render unto Caesar…”)
This is a wonderful passage that almost reads like a chess match in which Jesus’ opponents try to trap him, wherein Jesus cleverly avoids their scheme through a cleaver use of words.
Yes, it’s exciting, but what does Jesus really mean when he says, “Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperors, and to God the things that are God’s”?
What is the emperors? What is God’s? What is ours?
Join us Sunday as we consider these questions, and grow together in our faith.
Blessings
Pastor Travis
