A note from Pastor Travis 10/31/24
I know that it is hard to believe, but in a few weeks, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving. On November 24, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, we will have our “in-gathering” of food that we have collected and sing those wonderful Thanksgiving hymns.
My favorite is “Now Thank We All Our God”
Now thank we all our God, with heart and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things has done, in Whom this world rejoices;
Who from our mothers’ arms has blessed us on our way
With countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.
Each year during the Thanksgiving season, we focus on the many blessings that God has given us and give thanks to God for them. Of course, we are aware of our blessings from God throughout the year, but it is important that we set aside a season, and a holiday, to center our lives in giving thanks.
Sunday, November 24 is also Pledge Sunday. Appropriately, the themes for this year’s stewardship program is “Blessings.”
Over the next 4 weeks we will reflect on our blessings. As a part of this reflection, each of us will have the opportunity to consider how our giving for 2025 can be an expression of our deep gratitude for God. Then, on November 24, we will be invited to make a pledge.
Pledging is important. It is important for the church because it allows the church to plan for the coming year. It is important for each of us because it gives us the opportunity to make a commitment of our resources for the work of God in the coming year.
I give thanks to you for your generosity over the years and look forward to celebrating with you a successful steward season this year.
Oh, may this bounteous God through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us;
And keep us in His grace, and guide us when perplexed;
And guard us through all ills in this world, till the next!
Blessings and Grace,
Pastor Travis
