A note from Pastor Travis 1/6/22
Dear FUMC Family and Friends,
January is a cold month, deep in the heart of winter. As a result, it is hardly named as one of people’s favorite months. In fact, according to a Gallup survey, January is tied with February as the least favorite month of the year. On the other hand, May gets the nod for people’s favorite month.
Yet, January is one of my favorite months in our Christian worship calendar. It is full of important and wonderful celebrations. Last Sunday was Epiphany. This Sunday is the Baptism of Jesus Sunday, in which we reflect on Jesus’ baptism and our own baptisms. The following Sunday is Human Relations Sunday, on which we reflect on the work of Justice, as we celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year, on Human Relations Sunday we will also be celebrating Confirmation.
Yes, January is an exciting month in the life of the church, filled with wonderful celebrations. So, be sure to mark your calendars and join us as we open our hearts though worship in what just might become one of your favorite months of the year.
Peace and Grace,
Pastor Travis
