A note from Pastor Travis 8/26/21
Dear FUMC Family and Friends,
This Sunday is Andrew’s last Sunday as our Music Director. Andrew has been a faithful presence in our congregation, sharing his gift of music and his passion for worship with us. He helped me become acclimated to First UMC when I first came here, and he has shared his gifts and vision to help strengthen our music ministry. I am especially thankful for all that he did to enhance online worship as we have navigated Covid-19. I am immensely grateful for his ministry and I will miss him.
We are actively looking for a new Music Director. We are advertising in a number of places and have already interviewed several candidates. The search is going well so far; however, we will not rush the process. We are looking for the person who will be the right fit for our church and the position. If someone isn’t found by the time Andrew leaves, we will use substitutes and make other adjustments until the right person is found.
Sadly, I will not be here this Sunday as we say “goodbye” to Andrew. I am in Canada helping my daughter pack up to move back home. Tom Stewart, a faithful member of the choir and one who shares a passion for music and worship, will preach. As former Staff Parish Relations Committee chair and a longtime choir member, I am glad that Tom will guide worship on Andrew’s last Sunday with us.
I hope that you will join our church community in worship this Sunday to say farewell to Andrew, or, if you cannot be present, send a note of thanksgiving and goodbye to the church for Andrew.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Travis
