A September note from Pastor Travis
Dear friends,
Recently, I saw a billboard for a church. It had a picture of a little child on it, and it read, “Soon, she will be dragging you to church!” What a wonderful image! How often do we have the image in our mind of children asking their parents, “do we have to go to church?” Did your parents drag you to church as a child? What if church was so exciting and inviting for our children that they couldn’t wait for Sunday to arrive?
That is our goal. We have an exciting and innovative children’s ministry. We have a creative Sunday School. Godly Play which allows children to explore their faith from a fresh perspective that is compatible with their learning styles. In my short time here at First, I have discovered that our church is a place where children feel loved and accepted. Adults are glad that they are here. There are not many places where this is true for children.
This is something that we can celebrate in the life of our church! The vitality of children’s program enriches our church. Our children offer us a fresh perspective and new ideas. A growing church, a vital church, is one that loves and welcomes children. A growing church is one that celebrates its children. It is this spirit that helps make our church strong.
As the fall begins, I invite you to discover new ways to involve our children in the life and ministry of our church. Together we will build a bright future for our church and develop the leaders of the church for decades to come.
Peace and Grace,
Pastor Travis
