A note from Pastor Travis 3/21/24

Graphic of palm leaves with text saying: Palm Sunday celebrates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem and marks the start of Holy Week, the final days of his earthly ministry.

The celebration of Jesus coming into Jerusalem stands in contrast to the events of the week ahead. Palm Sunday helps us imagine victory, but we get a cross — perhaps that is because we, much like the disciples, haven’t really listened to Jesus as he traveled and taught, we haven’t understood his message. The victory isn’t in the beginning of the week but in its end. Perhaps that is why Palm Sunday’s reading is so anticlimactic.

Those who came for a parade go. They have had their celebration and can go on with life. But for those who are willing to stay for the week, to go to the garden for prayer and feel the grief of Jesus on the cross, the power of this week is yet to come. When it comes, it is life transforming.

We invite you to join us on this life transforming journey through holy week, and invite family and friends to participate in its blessings.

Blessings and Grace,

Pastor Travis
