A note from Pastor Travis 12/10/20

Dear FUMC Family and Friends,
Advent is different this year. There are no holiday parties, no special events in downtown Melrose, or in any of the other surrounding towns, and no in-person Advent worship. However, it is still Advent. We are still preparing our hearts to receive with joy the blessing of the Christ-child. Christmas will come, regardless of the necessary restrictions of COVID-19.

Worship is still a vital part of our Advent season and Christmas celebration. Though we will not be worshiping in-person, we are still worshiping virtually. Our Christmas worship schedule includes:

Sunday, December 13: Luke 1:46b-55, Mary’s Song (The Magnificat). This song of Mary was a radical reimagining of the world based on justice that foreshadowed the themes of Jesus’ ministry. We will explore these themes and ask what they mean for our lives and the world. 9:00 am on MMTV and 10:00am on Facebook and YouTube. The Facebook and YouTube link will be sent out in Constant Contact.

Sunday, December 20: The Virtual Christmas Pageant. 9:00 amon MMTV and 10:00am on Facebook and YouTube. The Facebook and YouTube link will be sent out in Constant Contact.

Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, Christmas Eve Service 6:00 pm on MMTV, Facebook, and YouTube. The Facebook and YouTube link will be sent out in Constant Contact.

This Advent and Christmas we also invite you to consider giving a special gift. Each year the offering we receive during this season and on Christmas Eve are an important part of our yearly income. This year, because of COVID-19, your gift is more important than ever. These gifts are a blessing to our church and help us continue to reach out in God’s love to our communities and around the world. You can give by sending a check to the church, going to http://fumcmelrose.org/ and following the virtual giving link, or by scanning the QR code provided below. Thank you for your past generosity and for the blessings that your gifts are.

Merry Christmas,

Travis
