Welcome to All!
Our Reconciling Statement
The First United Methodist Church of Melrose embraces Jesus’ message that God loves and accepts every person. Jesus calls us to the ministry of reconciliation and grace. We therefore invite and welcome all persons of every age, gender identity, racial or ethnic background, sexual orientation, marital or socioeconomic status, nationality, and physical or mental ability into full participation in the life of this faith community. We are committed to the reconciliation of all persons as children of God and declare ourselves to be a Reconciling Congregation.
We believe that all God’s children have special gifts to be honored and respected in an atmosphere of faith, hope and love. We hold fast to the God-given goodness that is in every person. Our faith compels us to accept nothing less than the human rights of all people.
We therefore support social practices which seek to eliminate all forms of discrimination, injustice and violence, and commit ourselves to actively working to effect changes within the United Methodist Church which encourage the full inclusion of all people in the life of our church and denomination.
