Volunteers Needed: FUMC Melrose Free Sunday Meal Distribution Every Sunday after Worship AND to make and donate meals for the freezer

First United Methodist Church Melrose is partnering with The Food Drive to provide weekly distribution of free meals from the Melrose Community Freezer, located in the church basement. Distribution is open to all and will be held every Sunday from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM in front of the church. We will need two volunteers each week from 11 AM to 12:30 PM.

We also need meals to be donated! See below for instructions.

The Melrose Community Freezer is a joint program of FUMC Melrose and The Food Drive to provide nutritious, balanced frozen meals at no cost for people in the local community experiencing need. The goal of the Sunday distribution is to bridge the gap between the Friday pantry at A Servant’s Heart Food Pantry at Faith Evangelical Church, and the Tuesday pantry at Pantry of Hope at First Baptist Church.

Each guest will choose three frozen meals, which will be labelled with a description, including allergens. One of the goals of the program is to provide meals that meet specific dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, low fat, dairy free, and low salt – items that are not always readily available at pantries and soup kitchens. To accompany each meal, guests will receive a packet of homemade cookies baked with love by FUMC church members and a Community Resource Sheet listing food security in our local area.
