A note from Pastor Travis

Several years ago, our family went to a restaurant to celebrate a family event and the service was slow. It took forever for our food to arrive and I didn’t think they were ever going to bring us the check. In total that restaurant visit took well over 2 ½ hours. I was frustrated until Sandra pointed out to me that we had just spent over 2 ½ hours sitting as a family and talking.

She was right. We had a wonderful time as a family. We laughed and joked together. We had shared how our week had gone. I wouldn’t have taken that time back for anything, especially faster service.

During the rush of the holiday season, I am trying to remember the lesson of that family meal. There are times when I need to step out of the rush of the season to spend time with those I care about. I need to be intentional about creating space for family and friends. I also need to be intentional about creating space for God, so that I can center my life on the true gift of this season.

What about you? How are you creating space for family and friends this Advent? How are you creating space for God?

I invite you to join us for worship each Sunday during Advent and to join us on Christmas Eve at 5:30 for our Christmas Concert and at 6:00 for our Christmas Eve service. I pray that this will be a sacred time in your life and that you will feel the moving of God’s Spirit.

Peace and Grace,

Pastor Travis
