A note from Pastor Travis 8/21/25

There is that hymn that many of us learned in Sunday School (and that we sing from time to time in worship). It beings: “I am the church. You are the church. We are the church together.” In more ways than I can name, this idea is true at First UMC Melrose. We work together to accomplish our ministry. 

This was especially evident over the past few months while I was away. Thank you to everyone who gave of their time, gifts, and talents this summer. You offered each other excellent pastoral care. Worship was exciting and meaningful. What incredible preachers we have in this church! (You will hear another one of our talented preachers this Sunday.) 

I am grateful for our congregation. You are a blessing to this community, to each other, and to me. 

I have been worshiping with you online each week that I have been away, and I look forward to being back at church in person on August 28.
