A note from Pastor Travis 5/8/25
Last Sunday we celebrated Grace’s last week as our Music Director, and you may be wondering what is in store for our music ministry. It is an important question. Music is a vital part of our worship and it is important that we continue to have a quality music program in our church. Therefore, we have developed a plan.
This Sunday we have a guest musician to lead worship, and starting May 18, Rachel Hassinger will serve as our interim music director through the end of June. This will give the Staff Parish Relations Committee, SPRC, an opportunity to review our Music Director job description, create a search committee, and advertise for the position. Our goal is to hire someone by July 1.
Many of you may already be familiar with Rachel Hassinger. She has substituted for us on a number of occasions, most recently on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday. She is an accomplished musician who plays the organ and has worked well with our choir in the past. Rachel is a life-long United Methodist who has a deep understanding of our tradition and the vital role that the hymns, especially the Wesleyan hymns, play in it. We look forward to Rachel’s sharing of her gifts and ministry with us over the next few months.
Please keep the SPRC in your prayers as we search for our next Music Director.
Blessings,
Pastor Travis
