A note from Pastor Travis 3/23/23

I am excited for us to gather for worship during Holy Week and Easter. It is a week of worship which centers our lives in Christ, and gives us the opportunity to focus on eternal things. There is nothing better than Easter worship. There is excitement in the air and joy in our spirits.

Worship has more energy than usual and the hymns are sung with enthusiasm. One of the wonderful things about Easter worship is beautiful music, especially the Anthem. As part of our Easter celebration, we are having an extended choir. We are inviting people who are not normally part of the choir to participate in it for Easter.

There will be 20-minute rehearsals over the next 2 weeks on Sunday mornings following worship, and you will be singing “Joyful, Joyful” on Easter morning. So, if you love to sing, but can’t fit choir into your regular schedule, this is a great opportunity for you. If you don’t feel like you have a “choir quality voice” then this is a chance for you to still participate in the choir. We don’t seek the people with the best voices, but people who enjoy singing.

If you normally worship with us online, this is an opportunity to be in person for Easter. If you have considered being in the choir before or maybe have never considered it until now – this is your invitation!

Whether you join the Choir for Easter, or choose to worship with us from the pew or online, be sure to mark your schedules to join us for our other Holy Week worship opportunities too.

We will be worshiping in the sanctuary on Palm Sunday and Easter.

Sunday, April 2 – The Ecumenical Palm Sunday Service

8:30 a.m. – Breakfast at First Baptist Church

9:00 a.m. – Depart down Main Street to Ell Pond Gazebo

9:15 a.m. – Blessing of the Palms Service at the gazebo

9:30 a.m. – Depart from gazebo for our Palm Sunday service

at FUMC!

Thursday, April 6 – 7pm Maundy Thursday Service

Friday April 7 – 7pm Good Friday Service

Sunday, April 9 – Easter Sunday

6:30 a.m. -Sunrise Service at Mt. Hood

9:30 a.m. – Children’s Egg Hunt at church

10:00 a.m. – Easter Service
