Letter from Haiti Global Youth Partnership 2/24/22
I hope all is well. We know it has been a while since we last spoke, so we wanted to update you on what we have been up to. As of this week, 2 schools have been built. The first, L’école presbytérale de Clairy, is now holding classes for 400 students. The second, L’école presbytéral de L’Asile, is holding classes for 500 students. For the second school, we were able to partner with the St. Joseph Church of L’Asile who provided the manpower and additional resources in order to complete this school building initiative. 3 more schools are still in construction, and each of them will be able to host 300 students. We still have schools taking place in tents, so we hope to build more schools this year so that every child in L’Asile can attend school in a real classroom. Thankyou for helping to make this project a reality, thanks to you 900 children are back in real classrooms! We are awaiting more pictures so that we can share with you and the congregation.
In January, we were able to send $500 to 5 schools for back to school. The money was given to the principals of the schools to buy school supplies and textbooks for all of the students. Throughout December to the end of January, we were able to distribute rice to over 160 families, and established an emergency fund in which we were able to give $20 to each of these families as they are some of the least fortunate in the area. As of now, the distribution is on pause until we can fundraise to be able to provide more rice. This project was made possible because of your kindness and generosity, and we cannot thank you enough for all your support. You are helping to make a tremendous difference in these people’s lives… We are awaiting a lot of photos and videos from our team, and once we have them we will send them over to you. Thank you so much for your partnership, this work could not happen without you.
Sending you all our well wishes!
Sincerely,
Rebecca, Wildie, and Nunotte
