A note from Pastor Travis 1/20/22
Dear FUMC Family and Friends,
This Sunday we will be celebrating Confirmation. It is a wonderful day in the life of the church. It is always a joy to welcome new members into our congregation, but it is even more joyful to see our youth make this claim for their lives. In preparation for their confirmation, I reminded them that confirmation is different than graduation. When you graduate, you have completed a journey. Confirmation, on the other hand, is a milestone in the journey of faith. When our confirmation students join the church, they are taking on a more mature and responsible role in the life of the church and their own faith development. It is a lifelong journey in which they will continue to grow and mature.
Celebrating Confirmation Sunday gives us an opportunity to reflect on and renew our commitment to our faith journey too. As we look back over our walk with Christ, we can see both the blessings and the struggles. We can see the ways our faith has sustained us and the times that our questions have brought us to our knees. Through it all, God has been with us, offering us grace for the journey.
I give thanks for this journey and the way that it continues to shape my life. I am thankful for this church and the many ways it has blessed me in my 2 ½ years as your pastor. I celebrate the 4 youth who are being confirmed. It is a blessing to be on the journey together.
Peace and Grace,
Pastor Travis
