A note from Pastor Travis 8/12/21

Dear FUMC Family and Friends,

I am proud to be the pastor at First UMC of Melrose for a lot of reasons. One of the important reasons is our commitment to mission ministries. We support our mission ministries in a number of ways and in a number of places. We have volunteers who work for local feeding ministries, such as the Bread of Life. We collect food for food banks, and we have entered into a partnership with The Food Drive. We also support these and other ministries financially. In addition, we have made commitments to mission work in other parts of the world.

One place where we are in ministry through our financial giving is in Haiti. In the middle of the pandemic, we made the bold decision to raise money to support 3 different mission programs in L’Asile. It was an act of faithfulness to commit to a large project in the middle of uncertain times. However, the need is great, we have many resources, and we are called by our faith to act.

The money that we have already given to these projects has made an impact. We have helped stock a food bank and funded a medical clinic. Our 3rd mission program in L’Asile is support of local schools. As a part of supporting this project, this week we have given $500 to fund a summer camp. It is an exciting program that makes an important impact on elementary age children and extends their opportunities to learn beyond the school year.

Thank you for your support of this important work and all that we do as a church.

Peace and Grace,

Pastor Travis
