A note from Pastor Travis 5/6/21

Dear FUMC Family and Friends,

Our first Sunday back to in-person worship went smoothly. It was good to be back in person. Everyone worked hard to make it a safe and worshipful morning. Some people still feel uncomfortable gathering indoors in person, and that is very reasonable. This is why we continue to offer virtual worship options. However, as more people are becoming vaccinated, many people are feeling more comfortable gathering for activities. If you are beginning to feel more comfortable, I encourage you to join us for worship this Sunday. We have created a safe environment with people maintaining proper distance and wearing masks.

Personally, I have been hesitant to gather in groups. Only in the last week have I gone into any stores (other than to get groceries) and I have not eaten indoor in a restaurant yet. However, last Sunday I felt comfortable in church, and I enjoyed being with others as we worshiped God together. It has been a long time since I have seen many of our church members in person, and it felt good to be together sharing joys and concerns and learning what has been going on in their lives. It was nice to hear people respond to the liturgy and there was energy in the room.

I give thanks for everyone who continues to work hard to provide meaningful virtual worship. I am glad that we can worship in-person together again. As the year progresses, I look forward to all of the wonderful activities we will be able to do together, in person.

If you are interested in learning more about the safety procedures we have in place, there is an article on that in this newsletter. Read on to learn more about this and the many other exciting opportunities we have in the coming weeks.

Blessings and Grace,

Pastor Travis
