A note from Pastor Travis 3/11/21

Dear FUMC Family and Friends,

Yesterday the weather was nice so I put on a mask and went for a walk. Along the route, I came across a neighbor’s dog, Lucy. She had a stick in her mouth that was twice as long as she was. She was struggling to manage it but was as happy as she could be. Her tail was wagging and she was almost prancing as she walked. I watched her as she made her way back to her yard and imagined her plans to try to bury it somewhere. It made me laugh. Lucy is a very sweet dog and seeing her so happy was nice.

It is amazing how simple things can lift our moods and bless our days. They fill us with joy, and they remind us that life is a good gift from God. This is important, especially as we continue to deal with COVID-19. Though life can be difficult and our struggles are real, we were created by a good God who yearns for us to know the blessings of life. One of my favorite passages is John 10:10b, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” What could be better than having life abundantly?

What are the things that fill you with joy? Where have you seen God this week? What are the simple blessings that remind you that life is a good gift from God?

I invite you to reflect on these things each evening as you prepare for bed and offer God a prayer of thanksgiving. It is amazing how such a simple act will shift your focus.

Blessings and grace,

Pastor Travis
