A note from Pastor Travis 1/14/21
Dear FUMC Family and Friends,
My heart was broken by the events of last Wednesday. I could not believe what I saw on TV. I was angered by the actions of those who invaded the Capital, the slow response of our government, the racism, and the cooperation by some of those responsible for the safety of Congress. I was disheartened that so many seem to believe the lies about the election and the many conspiracy theories. I was worried about our democracy. I still am.
I am also worried about you. This last year has been difficult. We have been socially isolating from each other and miss the comfort of our friends, family, and church community. We have worried about those who have been ill and mourned those who have died. Now, we are watching the struggles of our democracy. It is hard.
Please take care of yourselves. Turn off the TV and take a break from the news when it gets overwhelming. Call family and friends, not only to check on them, but to reconnect with those that you love. I encourage you to spend time in prayer and meditation each day. It will help you stay connected to God and give you strength. You can call me anytime you need to talk or would like someone with whom to pray.
We will get through this together.
Peace and Grace,
Pastor Travis
