A Note from Pastor Travis, 11/26/20
Dear FUMC Family and Friends,
In the few last months, we have all been watching the number of CORONA-Virus rise. The infection rate and the death rate are increasing too. In fact, the number of new CORONA-Virus cases each day is higher than when we paused in-person worship in the spring. Experts say that these numbers will increase over the month and have urged groups and organizations to pause in-person activities. As a result, the Leadership Team and I have made the difficult decision to pause in-person worship beginning this coming Sunday, November 29. This means that last Sunday was our last in-person worship for a while. We do not know when we will be restarting in-person worship again, but it will be January at the earliest. We will be watching the trajectory of the CORONA-Virus very closely.
It was a hard decision to pause in-person worship just as we entered Advent. It was hard to pause worship during Lent and to not be together physically during Easter. The idea of not gathering in-person for Christmas Eve is very sad. But, we care deeply about you and your physical health. We want to keep everyone safe, and pausing in-person worship is the responsible thing to do.
We also care about your spiritual health. We will continue work hard to make our virtual services meaningful. There are many people who contribute each week to preparing our virtual worship. I am grateful for their hard work. Without them our virtual services would not be possible.
We encourage you to participate in worship each week through our virtual worship. We will continue to show our services each Sunday on MMTV at 9:00am and debut them Sundays on Facebook at 10:00am and YouTube at 10:00am. You do not need a YouTube account to watch our videos there, just follow the link we send out each week. We will also have a special Christmas Eve Service on December 24. Even if you cannot join us for virtual worship when they debut, you can go back and worship through them at a later time.
We miss seeing you in person and look forward to the day when we can safely gather again in-person.
Have a happy Thanksgiving.
Pastor Travis
