A Note from Pastor Travis 10/15/20

Dear church family and friends,

This Sunday is an exciting day at First UMC Melrose. This Sunday Jayleigh Lewis begins her ministry as our new Director of Children and Family Ministry. She is excited to be joining us, and we are excited for the gifts and spirit that she brings to our church. You will have an opportunity to meet Jayleigh following worship. We are holding a social distance welcoming reception for her on the church lawn at 11:00. If you normally worship virtually, this may be a Sunday that you want to come to social distance in-person worship. However, even if worshiping virtually, you may want to join us for the reception at 11:00 to meet Jayleigh and help her feel welcome to our church community.

This Sunday the Reverend Doctor John Kiemele will be preaching. John will be the facilitator of our Soul Care Matters adult education program. His sermon will help us reflect on ways to care for our spiritual health in these difficult times. Caring for our spiritual health is also the goal of Soul Care Matters. It is a 4-week online experience that helps us learn time honored spiritual practices of the Christian tradition, which will help us care for our spirits. Starting Monday, October 26, these four Zoom gatherings offer a grace-filled experience of spiritual companionship, time-honored spiritual practices, and mutual encouragement and support for our journeys. If you would like to join us in it or to sign-up for it, please email me at reverendtravis@gmail.com.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Travis
