From the Pastor

Dear friends,

“The main thing is to keep the main the main thing.”

Rick Warren reminds us of this old adage. Warren is a pastor and spiritual leader and author He reminds us that it is important for a church to understand clearly why it exists (“the main thing”) and to keep that reason for existence primary. As United Methodists, our “main thing” is clear: to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the trans- formation of the world.

How easy it is for us in the church to become sidetracked on things that are good and even important but are not a part of “the main thing.” We can’t do everything or be everything for all people. We have to remind ourselves why we are here. We have to continually check to see if what we are doing is in line with “the main thing.”

What is the “main thing” in your life? Is it God? I hope so. Join with others who are looking for ways to keep God as “the main thing” in their busy lives. When “the main thing” is indeed “the main thing” all other things fall into perspective and we live more fully and more freely.

In Christ, Stacey
